Type of a scam Worthless Problem-solving Service Scam
One day before the consult, I received a confirmation email on 10.11 at 12:40pm from Grace Gardner ([email protected]), I should have known something was up because their email domain used improper grammar.
I held a screening phone call from (800) 711-4818 with a Client Relationship Specialist named Christian Cabane on 10.12 at 2:30pm. Her "team" was to take my statements and create a financial outlook for their licensed advisor to go over with at a later appointment.
On 12.23 at 3pm, I video chatted with their licensed advisor, Jamie Rossi, using whereby.com. He screen shared with me charts and graphs breaking down my current financial standing and provided me advice on how to better set myself up moving forward. He offered additional services and to assist my wife if I provided him with her financial records. Luckily, I never got around to providing him with her information. He offered to provide me with all the graphs he was sharing with me during this appointment by the end of the weekend, of which, he never did.
That following Monday (10.26), I received an email from my IT Department informing us of a scram coming from the "yourretiring.com" domain and describing uncomfortably close details to what I had just experienced the week before. I had a single email from someone with that domain, a harmless, unsuspecting confirmation email for my first phone consultation. Everything else came from "kineticfinancial.com" domains
Other clues that should have tipped me off were:
The office and fax numbers listed in their email signatures were the same 800.711.4818.
There domain says they are from Kinetic Financial but the website listed in their email signatures either have "kineticfinancial.com" or "kineticagency.com".
There is a website for both that look pretty similar; same logo, contact information, general layout, etc. "agency" has less information and at the bottom says it's for "financial professional use only".
A google Maps search of their address shows a corporate building and lists a coffee shop but nothing about them specifically.
Jamie Rossi's image with a simple google search appears on another agencies website "Transamerica Agency Network" with a different job title, that is out of Columbus, OH.
Since all this, I have received two follow up emails; from Christian and Jamie requesting follow up and offering further assistance. I have not bothered to reply but I have changed all of my passwords and notified all of my financial institutions of this incident.
