They had a friend post of facebook roommate groups saying they needed a place to move in Nashville, TN (which is normal and most of my friends have found roommates from those pages). I sent the application and she was suppose to be sending the deposit and application to the leasing office. She refused and said she felt more comfortable with me getting it and turning it in. I had a gut feeling it was going to be a scam and planned on voiding the check and letting her know I didn't feel comfortable. A couple days later she said she had to send more money to ship her car to Nashville when she only lived a couple hours away and wanted me to hold onto it for her. I told her I will not be doing that and it's not my responsibility. I never heard back after and got a 2500 dollar check in the mail when the deposit was only 250. It came in a USPS envelope saying it was from a moving company but the check was from a business called key ingredients. The moving company was in Oklahoma, the check was from West Virginia, and she was from Mississippi. I called the moving company and they are a family owned business and we found out they just used their address online to make a shipping label.

The business Key ingredients is nowhere to be found and if you search you can see that the place is closed. she will not respond to any of my emails and now I can't find her friend from Facebook who posted saying she needed a place.
