booked a boat charter with ken (doc) shores through getmyboat.com, for my wife's 30th birthday. paid several months in advance, and spoke with ken days before to confirm location/time of departure. our group of 11 guests showed up early at the 31st harbor, but ken never showed. i called him 10 min before departure time (11am), he told me the boat has mechanical problems, and cant do our charter. Later, we found out from the harbor master, he took another group out that morning, and is not licensed for charters. apparently, he is guilty of similar scams in the past, according to harbor masters and other boaters at his dock. In the end, my credit card was refunded by getmyboat.com, but my wife's birthday was ruined.
