I was contacted by Kelsey Burton at BCG in Charlottesville, VA via email. I looked up BCG and there is a woman who works in human resources at the company. The address on the email is legitimate. I did a screening interview and after passing it, she forwarded me a screening application asking job questions. I completed the job application with my name, phone number and email. She offered me a virtual position starting on March 27, 2023 with training for some time. I signed the job offer and included my driver's license. She did not ask me for my social security number. We went on google chat to discuss the position more. She then said that she would be sending me a check for $4,885.45 to purchase materials for the job. She sent me the check and I deposited it into my bank account. I spoke to a friend and he said to never cash the check. It is a scam. I have to go to the bank tomorrow to dispute the deposited check. The check has the bank TD Bank on it with the routing number from MA and not VA. I have now applied for Lifelock for my personal identity to be monitored.
