I was originally called by a global locating service who told me that KB & Associates was trying to get ahold of me due to an impending case, they gave me the case number (105764ca) and toll free number to call. I called the number right away and a man asked for my case number, confirmed the last four of my social, and then put me on a brief hold. He said that there was a bail bond that I cosigned on 6 years ago that was not paid back in full. The total amount of the bond was $*** and $*** was still owed, I was to be help accountable for half of that amount so I either need to pay $*** now, make payments, or go to court. I explained to him that I did not have $*** and I had not been in contact with my friend for a few years, he then told me that since it wasn't "my fault" perhaps he could work on the price. I told him that I was under the impression that the bail had been paid in full back in 2012 and I questioned why they had taken 6 years to get ahold of me. He said they had been trying to get ahold of the person I had cosigned for and me for the past few years, but had no luck--which is odd because neither of us had changed our phone numbers since signing the bond. I told the guy I would get in contact with my friend who the bail was for and I would call him back tomorrow. When I called my friend he reassured me that the bail had been paid in full 5 years ago and he had not changed his number or address, so the bail company should have been able to get in contact with him should there have been any kind of an issue.
