I signed up to care.com for the purpose of babysitting some families in my area. A woman contacted me once I submitted my applocation and immediately told me to email her with my resume and that she would be deactivating her account since she found me. Once I emailed her, her account on care.com was deactivated (the name on the account was also different from her email name). Then she said she wanted to hire me and that her daughter was 2 years old and had knee surgery so she wanted me to get her a wheelchair and other things for them before they arrived as they were relocating. She immediately gave me the job without interviewing or even calling me and was super repetitive about being open and honest with each other. I naively agreed then she asked for my address and cell without providing hers as well and sent me a check of $1900 saying it was my first weeks pay and money for the wheelchair. I then realized it was a scam and when I denied the check and said I will not deposit it, she replied to my email with a weird response not addressing my response and that’s when I cut off contact with her completely. I received the check in the mail and it looks completely fake and fraudulent.
