They were interested in my piano and urged me to use their actual email account: [email protected]
However, when I contacted them about selling the piano, they used the email: [email protected]
and their phone number: (476)547-2143
and said their name was Judith Brickman.
They expressed immediate interest in buying the piano but said they were unable to see it because of their age and failing health. They then said they were going to send me a check for my full asking price and a little extra for their mover. That little extra turned out to be $2070. Well, the cashier check reached me, and my bank already had the money available to me. The scammer said that since the money was already there, we could proceed with the delivery, which included giving the extra money to the movers the night before our agreed delivery date to ensure the movers would come. They urged me to send money through Venmo or Zelle, preferably Zelle.
Luckily, I didn't send the money through because I finally realized that it was a scam at this point. Further research showed that cashier checks are becoming a common scam. The scammer is not an actual seller, so I don't know how to report them. I can only just block their number and email. Is there anything else I should do?
