On March 7, 2022, I paid a tax preparer named Ana Segovia to file my 2021 taxes. On January 6, 2023 I logged into my irs.gov account and my taxes did not show up so I called the IRS it, and they told me that no one send them in. The IRS advised me to speak to Miss Segovia and ask her to please send in my files and I did as I was told. On January 7 she confirmed that she had send them in and on February 2. I called the IRS again and they told me that they did not receive anything. I also explain to the IRS that Miss Segovia provided me with multiple 1040 documents, and they told me that that was not possible because she had not filed anything so those documents were not valid. I contacted her again, and I have asked for a refund, she stated that if I would like a refund she would like all of the paperwork back. I have contacted the state of Maryland and found out that she does not have a license to be a tax preparer in the state of Maryland. This individual now has my information and my Social Security number. I would like a refund for my $250 and I would like to protect other people from going through the same thing that I went through. Because we are responsible enough to get our stuff done and it’s not fair to us that our stuff isn’t getting send in. I now have to pay VIRGINIA penalties for filing my taxes late things to this matter. I ended up having to pay another office $325 to redo my taxes and actually send them in.
