JP Roofing (John Ponzo) Roofing is a alias used by a man who owns this company. There are many JP ROOFING companies listed in this country. Use the phone number as a guide to find this place. Found his ad in a local newsletter here in our retirement community. I bought a home here this month, **** 1 , 2021, He was short on the phone, shorter with email. we danced around appointment times. finally said he was coming Nov 13 to inspect my roof which I offered him my home inspection report showing areas of roof repairs. Never came. Never called to follow up. Nov, 20, Saturday afternoon, a guy is found with a ladder heading up my roof. I will call him "Weasel". Asked who are you, he replied, I am from JP Roofing. I said oh John Ponzo? he said yes but that name is ficticious . There is no John Ponzo. Was leery about this guy, but seemed talented in knowing roofs. It was Saturday. I was home, Convenient. He checked the roof, wrote down on a piece of paper what he would do after spending time on roof and said $2000. can do it tomorrow, Sunday. One day. done. Pleased with this quick one day repair, I said do it. Gave him $500 deposit. signed no contract or proposal. and he left all smiles. Me too. Sunday he called said roof was done. I was not home . he knew this on Saturday I wasn't gunna be home.\ Sunday. So payment might be delayed until Monday. He said on Sunday after finishing the roof around 5:00 pm,, "no problem see you Monday". This was all being "said" via text.. so I didn't get any more notifications from him. did my thing. then at 7 pm I noticed after he said "no problem" to Mondays payment, 3 minutes-- 5:03 pm-- later he changed mind. needed money Sunday night. "come home or meet you somewhere" he texted. Which I didn't see until 7 pm. Some 2 hour rant he went on, stating he was gunna rip off all the work he did if doesn't get paid Sunday night. bring his lawyer, etc. "you signed contract, I win you lose" . I had my roommate call him immediately ( FYI- I am deaf) after seeing this. they spoke. we agreed to leave money in a designated spot. Sunday night. $1500. rushed home . received a call from Weasel saying he's coming at 11 pm for the money. I replied its waiting for you. Leave a receipt. Left him a "nice " letter. Never came. Money was still there Monday morning at 6.a.m. asked him to finish the job, we need to talk, and to clean up the yard mess. yard was cleaned, but clearly the job wasn't finished as he left a 3 foot piece of drip edge hanging off my roof. never attached it to roof. got paid, didnt finish job. called his boss JP.. and JP said, "Weasel" does not work for him. I should not have paid him. do the math, I got conned. and lied to. the essence of a scam. Police called, Investigation began. these two are associates. Lawyer called. Going to court. Anyone wanna join me? I smell a class action suit. I know there are other victims out there. Let's shut these two down.
