I was contracted through my school email address which was supposed to be secure as it had a fire wall. The job was posted as a position that could be done in two hours during ones free time I assumed as it was coming through my school email it was a professor or faculty member. After giving my email and phone number though the email disappeared. Two weeks later I got a text that to check my email about the job posting. The job entailed working for the employer as a personal assistant which I thought was weird as that wasn’t in the flyer. The pay was unusually high and the job entailed organization of emails/calls etc. The point of suspicion was when it stated that I would be receiving nine hundred dollars but out of that nine hundred I would be taking out money for my pay check. With the rest of the money I was supposed to buy and ship toys to orphanages. From there things got weird as I was doing research I kept receiving text messages about signing on or if I was receiving the messages even after giving a response the person would text me again minutes later. It was weirdly persistent and I felt something really off with the continuous texts almost like the person was trying to pressure me. The scam was looking for what bank I used, if I knew how to do deposits and specified that it “was not asking for bank details”. There was never an interview but the form congratulated me on getting through my tough interview. The charity they used in the scam was real as I looked up but stationed in another state and had no mention of recruiting for employees. When using the name the emailer gave I couldn’t find them on the charities website either despite them claiming a high level position. That’s all the information I have.
