I applied to a remote administrative assistant position on LinkedIn and I received a text in response to my application. I then received an email saying I was hired and "John Powers" gave me way too much information too soon about what I would be doing, the supplies I needed to purchase, and mentioned twice about how they were going to send a check in the mail to get my supplies started. There was too many red flags, the unprofessional text, the loaded informational email that assumed I was going to take the position and acted like I was already hired, telling me about sending me a check twice, and the incongruencies throughout the email. It was weird. Luckily I have heard of these types of scams before, I just did not think that would happen through LinkedIn. Be careful where you are applying do and triple check the company's legitimacy, never cash a check a "company" has sent through the mail.
