A company named Long Term Investors LLC called my father in law regarding a timeshare he's owned in Mexico since the late 90's. They said they had a buyer for the timeshare but wouldn't provide him with their information. They sent him a contract that outlined he'd have to pay taxes and outlined how much he would receive from the timeshare sale. They referred him to the broker JFA Advisors, LLC where he needed to pay the taxes up front which amounted to $22,000. He deposited the money to the bank account number in Mexico that they provided. They then asked him to make another payment of $6,000 for a title change which he has not paid. When my wife and I called Long Term Investors LLC today they refused to give us any information whatsoever and when we asked for their business license number they gave us 169920 which we were unable to find online. They also told us that if he didn't pay the $6,000 they would pursue legal action. Her father has asked for a refund and in order to release the $22,000 and they told him that he'd have to pay a penalty of $9,000 before they would release the money back.
