I received an e-mail on 10/23/22 from what appeared to be Ace Hardware. I didn’t know it at the time but it was actually a fraudulent company called Informative Buys (or Buyers) Online with the website Jetingsign.info. They asked if I would take a survey. Then the website asked if I would like a free gift in exchange for $1.95 shipping. The gift was supposed to be a power drill. I gave them my info because I like Ace Hardware and they do have promotions sent by e-mail. This e-mail had images borrowed from Ace branding, like logos on it. It was a mistake because they took $101.90 out of my account without asking by the next day. I had already called my bank and left messages and e-mails because I suspected fraud. I had my card canceled and my bank sent a new one. I called Shazam and disputed the charge. Recently they denied my claim that the charge was fraudulent; because according to some fine print I agreed to the terms and services of the website. When I looked closer at the e-mail I could see that it was from Informative Buys Online. The web address was jetingsign.info. This company is clearly not Ace Hardware; so I’m not surprised by their fraudulent actions. I spoke with my bank Central Bank of Iowa and they told me to call Informative Buys. The number provided for Informative Buys Online is (888) 739-9054. They are a third party customer service company that does not handle returns of course. That was what the representative said when I called. Now all I can do at this point is warn others and avoid the situation in the future myself. Informative Buys (or Buyers) Online is fraudulent and took my money without giving anything to me; an arrangement which I did not agree to. I’ll make the occasional donation when and how I agree to it. This was not what I agreed to and they are not who they say they are. So that’s fraud as far as I can tell. Hope this happens to as few people as possible. I don’t have the original e-mail so attached is an image of one from my junk folder that is very similar to what I received on 10/23/22.
