Jerry Hall Reports & Reviews (1)

On June 15, 2022, I responded to a post on Craigslist O`ahu for a 9-week-old golden retriever puppy. The ad had two pictures of cute fluffy golden retriever puppies. The seller wanted $350.00 for a female puppy that he represented was an AKC purebred, housebroken and docked. Throughout our text messaging, as the post requested text communication, the seller sent adorable pictures of the puppy and the puppy's mother. The seller even sent a picture of an AKC family tree for dogs, but it was illegible. The seller wanted a 100% refundable deposit to hold the puppy until 9:00 p.m. when I could pick her up at his residence. He wanted the funds sent via Venmo. He said many people were texting him for the puppy and the only way to hold it was to reserve it. He wanted 50 deposit and that it was 100% refundable. I sent him $50.00 via Venmo to @jerry-125. He also sent a picture of his QR code. He also sent his 4 digits of 1366. I sent $50.00, then he sent an invoice saying I needed to send a 50% deposit and that I need to send the balance of $125 and that it was 100% refundable. He wanted the funds immediately and insisted that I send him a screenshot of the money after having been sent. I sent the balance of $125.00 to @Jerry-125 and sent him a screenshot as requested. He gave me his residential address as 7007 Hawaii Kai Dr., Apt. E12, Honolulu, HI 96825. Then he asked if I had a cage, food and toys for the puppy. I said I was interested in the food and toys as I already had a carrier. We never finished these additional sales. I kept asking to pick up the puppy earlier than 9:00 p.m. but he never gave me an earlier time. At 7:30 p.m., I called the number (901) 602-7621 to confirm pick up time and location but the answer was a standard recording saying that the number I was trying to reach was no longer in service. At this point I realized that the Craigslist ad was fake, the pictures of the puppies were fake, the seller's name was fake, and the pickup address was fake. My total loss is $175.00. I did not receive the puppy, or a refund of my deposit as promised. I was unable to communicate with Jerry Hall thereafter as (901) 602-7621 is the only contact number that I had for this seller and since he disconnected it, I have no other means of communication with the seller. I did not give approval or consent to Jerry Hall to keep my $175.00 deposit without receiving the female golden retriever puppy as promised in the Craigslist O`ahu ad. Too many red flags but I was overcome by the cute puppy pictures that I let my guard down. I have also filed a complaint with Venmo under Case No. 47944186, Venmo.com and phone number (855) 812-4430; however, having failed to check the box for "Purchase Protection," I may not be afforded a refund from Venmo. I was unaware of this "purchase protection plan" when submitting to this transaction. Attached is a picture of the Craigslist post of the golden retriever puppy.
