Someone called my mother in law stating they were a lawyer representing my son in a DUI case. Another person on the line pretended to be my son who had a broken nose and stitches in his mouth (this was his excuse for sounding odd) and said "Please Grandma, I love you and really need help." Then the "lawyer" said my son had been drunk and hit a pedestrian, he and the victim are both at the hospital in very bad shape and he needs immediate legal representation which requires a $1500 retainer. My son was safe at home 4 states away from where they were saying he was. I did not provide personal information or money but these miscreants are likely taking advantage of other elderly people.
