I contacted James Carlisle about an interior painting job. He had promoted himself on the Saugatuck Douglas Informed Facebook group. We made arrangements for him to begin painting June 23 and I sent him $155 for paint and supplies. He wanted to use his partner’s Venmo account for the transaction. He sent a message that he needed to delay the job by one day. Then I received a phone call from his friend “Elvis” June 25 saying that James had been diagnosed with Covid. I sent him a text the next week and he thought he could come do the job July 1-2 but he never came. The last message I received from him was July 6 and he said, “ I'm so sorry my phone was broken and it was hard to find your contact I'm doing better now sorry for the inconvenience but I bought and paid for your painting material we can reschedule if you like.” I replied that if he could drop off the paint and supplies, we could schedule for early October. Have not heard a thing since.
