The scammer pretended to be a friend of mine on Facebook named ********* **** (who actually lives in ******, ** like me). I didn't know her acct had been hacked and the scammer was using her FB acct to contact all her friends about a work from home job with Aetna that paid $30 dollars an hour doing inbound customer service. I was told I could pay "her" the fees to get started - $100 for background check- I gave my driver's license number, social security# and bank info for direct deposit) $150 equipment/software deposit (claiming to be refundable) $50 shipping, all paid through Cash App bitcoin. After the equipment supposedly shipped (I was texted pics of the box with a "homemade" looking label) I was told I needed to pay another $100 because the box is being held in customs and I needed to pay to have it delivered to my door. I REFUSED to pay this extra $100 because I know that once shipping is paid, UPS will deliver it to the desired location. I realized I had been scammed when "fake *********" would make up excuses NOT to speak with me over the phone (I'm working right now, you'll have to make an appointment to speak with my sup, etc.) and guaranteeing that the funds will be returned to me once I get the equipment and download the software. I finally got in touch with my REAL friend ********* who told me about her FB acct being hacked and not to speak with the person anymore and don't give them any money.
