The website EIN-Federal-Tax-Id.com is one of the top Google search results for the question "IRS EIN". I was in the process of registering my LLC for an EIN to open a bank account and didn't realize that the website I was accessing - EIN-Federal-Tax-Id.com - was a scammer. I entered my personal information (legal name, home address, phone number and possibly social security number) into the page, then was prompted to pay $399. I was shocked at the fee and then looked up the cost in a general search - finding that the government does not charge fees to register an EIN, I then exited the webpage. The scammer still had my personal email address and sent me an email to remind me of my incomplete application and a discount to $199. This is clearly massive consumer fraud, and individuals can easily fall for this as the IRS website and processes are so byzantine. I think this company and any others like this, with a very misleading URL and SEO that leads the average user to think this is legitimately the US Government, needs to be immediately reported and dismantled. This is complete fraud.
