I was attempting to create an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for my startup through IRS. I searched Google for the "EIN Application online" and this company was the 1st sponsored link that came on the top. I clicked on it and it looked legitimate. It had necessary options and I filled in the application which required personal details (business name, business address, business email, business phone number, my name and my SSN), along with the payment. After submission, I didn't receive any confirmation email from the company.

The whole website was very shady and it did NOT make it OBVIOUS that it is NOT a government organization and that it is a 3rd party service.

They used a website that looks like the official EIN request website. They had the same questions, but at the end they requested $250 to file for it.

I was getting a EIN number from the IRS, thought I was on the site and applied for my EIN . After paying I went to the IRS website and its FREE to get your EIN number. I called my Credit card company and I need to wait for it to be posted and then dispute it. I called the fake IRS company they were closed but send a support email. I plan on calling tomorrow but wanted people to know this site is a fake and looks real
