I was filing for an IRA EIN and I just clicked what looked like a legitimate link returned in my Google search. I got all the way through the form, including providing my SSN and then went to a payment screen. The payment requested for a free service from the IRS was $339, I realized my mistake and exited from the site. I'm concerned because I gave them my SSN but there's nothing I can do now. I can't believe this is a legal business.

I was registering my LLC through my state government website, and needed to file for an FEIN. I entered irs FEIN and clicked on their website falsely assuming it was a government website. I entered my business information, address, contact info, SSN, and realized right after I entered submit that this wasn’t a legitimate website.

The website caught me off guard and I trusted it was the IRS website the charged $255 for ein number and won't refund the money back or provide additional services , it's a complete scam because the IRS doesn't charge for that this also can be identify theft as well

If you need an EIN number for your business, you should ONLY use the OFFICIAL IRS website as this service is FREE OF CHARGE and safe. This company gives no phone number to contact for disputes and charges you for something that you can get for free

I needed a tax id for my mom's estate. I thought I was at irs.gov. I entered my information including social security numbers and clicked submit and it was gone. Then came a bill for $245. I didn't pay it but now I am concerned that they have my name, address and social security number. They should not be allowed to include the Internal Revenue Service in their name. Later I received an email saying it wasn't complete and I could save $85. I am concerned they will be using my social security information.
