I discovered this scam by applying to a job that I saw on an online job board - I believe it was indeed.com. The company was seeking a photography assistant and I filled out the online application form, submitting my name, email address, phone number and mailing address. I received an email from them just a day or two later offering me the job. The project they were offering was a three-day photoshoot in New York City for fashion designer Michael Kors. All travel and accommodations would be paid for by the client. They let me know that I would receive a check in the mail to cover my travel expenses and that I would need to deduct $350 from the check as an upfront cost for their travel agent. This seemed like an implausible way to get this job or to book travel. There were some weird grammatical errors in the email, and when I looked more closely at the IQ Studio website, I thought it seemed unlikely that the company would do a photoshoot for Michael Kors. I also reverse-image searched the headshot of the guy who was supposedly emailing me, and it appears to be a stock image. I have not responded to them and do not plan to send them any money, but I am concerned that I gave them some personal information.
