This scam was also reported on November 19, 2019 in postal code 77433. I literally copied their experience as it was identical to mine. However, one of my unknown contacts reached out to me on Linked In. Was contacted via email for Mystery shop employment claiming to be a company called Ipsos ( legitimate company). Received a cashiers check for $2985 with instructions to evaluate a local Apple store. Instructions included a survey to fill out. Asked to deposit the check in my bank account and wait a few days until funded. Then was asked to purchase two $1300 gift cards. The left over cash of $330 would be the salary and remainder $55 to be rolled over in next task. Instructions also asked to call 305-768-1174 after the purchase for further direction. Mentions that the gift cards will be used to purchase merchandise in next task and will be picked up my a verified agent. I caught on quickly that this is a scam and did not deposit the check. I do worry that some people could fall for this.
