Received letter from Investec Financial Inc. stating I had won a consumer sweepstakes for $250,000. Enclosed was a check drawn on JP Morgan Chase Bank, NA with a Company Name of Duke Engineering Corp. in the amount of $3,750 that was to help me pay for the processinfg fee of $3,400. I was to contact a special claims agent Ms. Glenda Eveland @ 1-877-533-5159 to start my processing and to activate my check. It said on the letter to strictly adhere to the instructions and to always call this number on the letter only.

The check looked very authentic: routing number: 021309379 account number 601846561

What I noticed was the check number appeared as the first set of numbers followed by the routing then the account number. Check number usually follows the account number on a check.

I live in the Gonzales, LA area; I want to make sure that others are not taken by this scam.

Sent a letter saying I have won a prize from the European, African and USA consumer sweepstakes and to call a number to claim the check and help with processing fee.
