Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I made the mistake of signing up for one of those "mystery shopper" things and all that jazz. I know better and must have had a weak brain moment over the holidays. Anyways, you'll be happy to know that I got a check in the mail for $1850 on Tuesday morning. This company was "hired by Walmart" to survey it's stores and they are particularly concentrating on the Walmart to Walmart money transfers. That's why they want me to send 2 transfers of $750 each.
Lots of instructions as to what to do. I'm not buying any of it.
If this post helps ONE PERSON, then it's worth it.
I hopped right on that opportunity! Called Corporate. It's a scam. Did my research. Called the bank that the check is drawn on. Um, it's not a valid check. Lol. I wonder if they will still give me $250 for all my hard work?
They texted me on Tuesday saying
"Hello,this is Greg from the walmart survey service, text back if you get this" wanting
to make sure I got the package. I blocked the number and did not reply. They don't even use proper anything when they text ---how tacky!!!!!
Today, I get a money order for $900.00 with more instructions. Then I get this text --
"Good morning ***, It's me thomas Johnson the shopper manager...Your first assignment as been delivered to you by Usps post office mail,So have you completed your first assignment ?" AGAIN. TACKY. SPELL CORRECTLY, capitalize, etc.
This served to reinforce my suspicions that this was all a huge scam and they were trying to scam me out of my hard earned money. I am turning all of this over to the police tomorrow.
Friends--IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE AND SOMEONE IS SCAMMING YOU. Don't fall for it.
If I had deposited those checks and wired that $, I would be out a lot of money. It might take two weeks for those checks and money orders to bounce but they would definitely bounce.
Like I said I hope this helps one person.
