- La Puente, CA, USA

I was approached via email by a person named Sally Leslie ([email protected]) stating that they looked over my documents and believe I would be a perfect fit and was inviting me for an interview. Nothing was misspelled, the address had the company name in the domain so I went with it. Though, I don't remember applying for the job, as I am job seeking, I assumed they got my information from my public Indeed resume.

I accepted the job interview and was sent more information about the position and an interview ID. I was told to reach out to [email protected] via Microsoft Teams. I thought that was odd, but continued. He wanted to have the interview via chat, which I never experienced, but assumed it was because it was a writing position therefore they needed to judge my writing. He asked questions that seemed related to the job and then asked for my address. I was hesitant but since it was remote thought they wanted to check something.

Almost a week later and I was looking the company up because something felt off about the whole situation. They were real, locations were real, and the job posting was real and posted on all of their accounts. I sent a follow-up email to Brandon as standard interview protocol and never received a response. I then get an email from Sally informing me that I received the job. She attached direct deposit form to ask for bank information, wanted to see my ID, no W-4 to fill out, and the benefits information. The forms looked pretty good but it was the "confidential" watermark on the pages that looked altered. One page was fine and the rest were copy/pasted with this block of white text.

I responded that I would like my questions answered and more time, asking for the deadline. Again, no answer. I went to the company's website and emailed the address they had public for jobs, which is completely different than the one being used to communicate with me, and asked if Sally at the email address was an employee because if not she was offering me a job.

Once again, I went back to the company's website and a new banner appeared that stated "information about employment scams." I clicked it and it stated that people have let them know about scams and that all communication would come from an @kevel.com email address. Obviously these people are really good and changed theirs to @kevel.careers. To the eye, that looks great but without the company stating that I would've believed the offer. These people play the long game.

For fun, I submitted an application through their website and received confirmation from a different email address that my application was submitted.
