Waste of time

Travis called me recently. He must have got my info off a job posting ap as i have been searching for a job. Travis is either married to or is related to the owner Teresa.
He asked me a couple of basic questions. I inquired about what the job entailed. He was very vague, but stated that they worked with charities . He told me that 1st level managers make 128k.
I went on line to see what they were all about. Not a lot of info there. Some nice reviews there, one from Travis.
In the phone call Travis said that i was what they were looking for and they wanted to interview me. I agreed to drive to Sacramento for the interview. I had to take a day off of work to do this, but it sounded good.
I arrived on time and took a seat next to another gentleman. We were called in together.
This was no interview. It was all about laying eyes on me to see if i would represent them well to gather donations for them. It lasted maybe 5 minutes and was asked the same questions i answered on the phone call.
When i inquiried about job duties, i was told that this was a 2 part interview and the second part would be a phone call with that info and pay details. Needless to say the phoncall never came.
I'm not upset about not getting a job there. It was obvious to me that i was not about to fundraise for them for minimum wage. My issue was that i lost income to come to an interview that was not an interview.
An interview is after you have narrowed the group of applicants and you want to select the right guy out of the much smaller group. These guys interview everyone. When i arrived Travis was on the phone non stop calling people to come and interview. They must have called thousands.
I also discovered that they don't hire management. Everyone starts at the bottom making less than minimum wage with promisses that they will one day have their own office. It's a pyramid scam and everyone above you gets a cut from what you brought in.
I was misled and outright lied to. Don't make the same mistake i did.

I was hired as a "bottom-rung" worker on the premise that I would get trained to open a branch and be a small business owner. After three days of working there, I was told that 30% of all donations is my pay (no minimum wage, actually, breaking labor and wage laws), and that 5% went to my direct supervisor, etc etc until finally the remainder of the funds went to whoever owned and operated that branch. Tracie Flores the CEO told me she makes about 100 to 140 k every year off of donations. I signed a contract saying that I, as a third party worker, would not convince or say anything leader donors to believe I was with or worked for or volunteered for DARE. But in my training everyone was doing it and I was expected to do it as well. I ended up working 10 hour shifts and making about $5 an hour just off of donations. Their turn over rate is higher than any I've ever seen times 10. I literally saw 8 other people quit in the three days I worked there. I think nobody bothers to report them because they don't stay long enough to care. These people table with DARE products and take most of or all of people's donations for income. Apparently the Sacramento branch is not the only one. CEO Tracie said that all the partners get this huge all expenses paid vacation once a year. How can the branch owners of a fundraising company get so much money and so many benefits?? This is an illegal operation for the employees and a scam for everyone else.
