Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter
The caller explained that her father who lives alone received a house visit from a woman claiming to be from the Census on February 14th. This woman had reportedly flashed a badge and then proceeded to ask questions like: What is your monthly income?, How many bedrooms do you have?, How many people live here?, How much do your utilities cost?. After the woman left, the called said that her father began to receive phone calls from a man also claiming to be from the Census. The man was reported to have asked for additional information from the caller's father. The caller states that she contacted the real Census using the phone number on a card she had received in the past. The real Census confirmed it was a scam and instructed the caller to have her father submit a police report and that she may wish to contact BBB.
