After applying to numerous jobs online through Glassdoor, LinkedIn, etc I received a text message saying I was being considered for a Data Entry/Administrative Assistant position and instructing me to email someone about it. The text message also said it was from the company Nevro. I was eventually offered the position and given an offer letter via email. They offered $25/hr pay and full benefits after working for two months. I tried reaching out via the company website to verify that this offer was legitimate but received no response. I signed the letter and was told I would receive a check in the mail to cover payment for computer software I would need to begin training. I received a check from Heritage Plastics Inc which I was told was their sister company. I deposited the check and once the funds posted I was instructed to complete a zelle transfer of $2,500 to the “vendor” after I completed this transfer the original check they sent me bounced and my account was over-drafted. I immediately contacted the person I was communicating with and they told me it would be resolved and that they would contact accounting. They also said it was because it was an out of state check. I asked for a refund from the vendor which they said could not be completed until the following Monday. I pressed for more info and have received no further response.
