Imposter Job Offering Reports & Reviews (1)

- Grafton, MA, USA • Feb 21, 2024

I received the same text message on Monday, February 19, 2024. "Good Morning: My name is Sarah from Harris Pharmaceutical (www.harrispharmaceutical.org). I'm reaching out to you in regards to your job application for the position of a remote data entry clerk. We are pleased to invite you to interview for the position. The rate of pay is $27 per hour. If you are interested in this position, please send your resume to my email address [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you soon."

I have been looking for a job for over a year now and was encouraged when I received this text so I replied to her. She sent me a link to complete an online assessment to make sure I was a good fit for a data entry position. She told me it would take a few days for a decision but she sent me a text the next morning (Tuesday, February 20, 2024) "Good morning! I wanted to follow up on the email I sent this morning regarding the job offer. I'm also reaching out here to ensure that you didn't miss it. Please check your junk folders as well, in case it accidently ended up there. Best Regards, Sarah Hughes" I was relieved that I would be getting a paycheck and benefits again so I signed the letter.

I started to get very suspicious about her and the company. After doing a little research I found out that Harris Pharmaceuticals filed for Chapter 11 in 2020 and the last filing was Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the same day I received my job offer. I emailed Sarah (if that is really her name) a link to the Florida Bankruptcy Court case number: 2:20-bk-08071 asking for an explanation and the status of the company and of course she didn't reply. I sent a follow up email and no reply again. This message was the final red flag..."Recently, we have encountered situations where checks sent via mail to remote employees have been lost, especially for those who are unable to collect them from the office. To address this issue and ensure a secure and convenient payment method, our accounting department recommends sending the check to you via secured email. This method allows you to deposit the check using your banks mobile app. Before we proceed, could you confirm if you are able to complete a mobile deposit?" I read that scammers do this a lot because they can email a picture of the same fake check to a number of people.

This is a very long post but I want anyone that is contacted by "Sarah" at Harris Pharmaceuticals NOT to reply to her and report it to this site. Luckily, I didn't give her any personal information and blocked her email address and phone number.
