Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency
She needed to:
1. Not involve anyone else because he was embarrassed and ashamed that he as in jail
2. Go to her bank (CU) and get $8700 cash
3. Separate the cash in 2 equal sums in 2 separate envelopes and FEDEX 1st overnight
4. To an address and a different name than the attorney.
She lives alone and couldn’t bounce the details off anyone, trusts people, particularly believes that doctors and attorneys are always right and always honest, and she wanted her grandson out of jail. SO, she did exactly as she was told and sent $8700 in cash to the unknown recipient’s address in Springfield, MA.
The story continued for 3 days as I got involved and spoke to the “attorney”. Reported to police without any resolution. Reported to the CU where the money was withdrawn.
Danny Morgan is NOT an attorney in Massachusetts, my son was not in MA in any predicament and my Mother, though embarrassed and upset, will financially be fine.
