I had an interview over Telegram which is a texting app. I was approved for the position, however it wasn't the position that I had applied for, it was like a promotion. I recieved an e-mail with the job acceptance letter and a blank W4 to fill out. I didn't sign the letter because it had the incorrect job title on the document and then I didn't fill out the W4 because I didn't feel comfortable sharing my information. I was told that I was going to be sent a startup check, in order to buy the computer, printer and scanner that I needed in order to complete my job. I received the check in the mail this morning on 11/4/2020, I went to my bank and asked them if it was fraud - it in fact was a fraudulent check. The bank took the check and ended up shredding it. I was able to call the company that the check was issued from as the gentleman I was speaking to told me that out of 1,097 affiliated companies that owed Amerisolar money was going to be sending me a check. The company that I called ended up calling me back and told me that that account was infact closed and they did not send me a check for $2,780.00. They even told me that they had received another phone call from someone in Georgia trying to cash a $4500.00 check. I couldn't believe it. When I confronted the man and told him that this was a scam and that I would be reporting him he didn't have anything to say.
