IMCO Software Inc. Reports & Reviews (2)

I too have been talking with someone that claims to represent this company (IMCO), I was suspicious when I noticed none of the correspondence had any return phone numbers or addresses. I let also noticed that they are using a email address that links back to From: which is a hardware company in Florida, from what I can see this address may be valid. However, I have never worked for a company that expected you to purchase your own hardware and software based upon money that they send you in advance. I let them send the check but will not be depositing it but will indeed hold as evidence to submit as a cyber crime.

On Monday May 31st, someone contacted me by email from [email protected]. They claimed to be a hiring manager from a company called IMCO Software Inc. In the email was a job offer for a positing as a remote Virtual Support Specialist. There were instructions to contact a man by the name of Haland McMahon for an interview. I have been searching for a new job for a long time now, and the impact of the Coronavirus has made me desperate, so I contacted him through google hangouts.

During the conversation gave me a list of interview questions to answer and told me to wait until the next morning to find out if his superiors were interested. In the next morning he told me that I was hired and he informed me that in order to the job, I would be supplied with funds to buy equipment needed for work. He told me that the company would be sending a check of $4900 USD and I was to contact him as soon as I obtain the check. I got the check delivered by FedEX the very next morning.

I contacted him again and told him I received the check and he proceeded to instruct me to deposit the check into my bank account. I did so and he told to contact him again once the check cleared and the full amount posted. I got suspicious and decided to contact the local AG office to figure out if this might've been a scam. They told that it very much seemed to be a scam and whatever I did, NOT to spend any of the money from the check if it clears. I then contacted my bank and told them not to let the amount from the deposit post under any circumstances.

The following day I decided to contact Haland again and pretend that the check clear to see if I could get anymore info from the scam. He told me that the next step was to transfer to money to the bank account from a "vendor" so they could process the order of work supplies. He then offered me the following information for the transfer:

Elizabeth ****** Acc no : **********

Routin no *********

TCF bank

Bank address: 2485 Howard St,

Evanston, IL 60202

Moments later I got a message from a friend on LinkedIn claiming that they were targeted by this same scammer claiming to be from IMCO Software and they wanted to warn me. Please do something about these criminals ASAP. These are incredibly tough times and I don't want to see anybody else get taken advantage of.
