They pretend to be Apple affiliated and sell poorly made and calibrated medical devices.

I was contacted through email by a man with the name Bryant Roe on September 8th, 2020. It was an email that explained that he was a recruiter and that he was interested in hiring me as a videographer/editor for the company.

He asked me to download an IM chat app called Wire. There, we continued to communicate and he assured me that I would be called by another member of their team further interviewing me for the position.

The call didn’t work as there were cell service issues. Later that evening I received another message from Bryant with an official job offer and attached the contract as well as an I-9 form.

I filled out all the information (Name, Social Security number, Address, Checking Account number, and a photo copy of my passport) and returned it to Bryant.

Bryant followed up with me and said that my team leader would be Nicole wang and that I was to message her through the Wire app. I did so.

After brief introductions, Nicole told me what my duties would be for this job and further explained how the company communications work. She explained that I would need to purchase a new iPhone and iPad with my cell provider. She assured me that I would receive a reimbursement check to cover the costs after the purchases were made. She was very specific in her instructions, asking me to not remove either device from their packaging.

The next day, she tasked me with projects as part of a “pre-training” session. I fulfilled these tasks. The following day was more of the same.

After I had both the iPhone and iPad in my possession, I was instructed to ship the devices to a member of the IT department. Nicole explained the reason for this was to install security hardware and software per the company’s policy. I complied and paid $115 to ship the devices overnight.

Monday, September 21st, 2020, I received an e-check from the company’s financier. The check was for $2,400 even. I was instructed to quickly make a mobile deposit of the check so that it would be in my checking account.

The morning of Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020, I was instructed to go purchase an Apple gift card with $1,000 on it. Nicole explained that this money would be put onto an iCloud account for my new devices and would be used to purchase, download, and install different editing and office software on the devices. I was told I would receive a reimbursement check for these costs as well.

I was first contacted on Thu, Sept 3, by a Bryant Roe, telling me that I qualified for the Videographer-Editor position at iHealth Labs. Paying me $45/h.

After some chat interview through an application he requested to install (Wire) and one call from a Mr Li, on Saturday 5th, they told me I was hired.

Right away they sent me the job offer letter, and seemed to be in a hurry to hire me. I signed it and sent it back. with all my info. My "pre-training" started this Tuesday 8th.

This Bryant Roe told me that my team leader was going to be Nicole Wang, so he asked me to connect with her also through Wire.

So I did. She was so nice, and gave me some introductory speech, via chat, and talked to me about my duties.

Then she asked me if I was ok with buying an iPhone and an iPad, that I was going to need for my job and that they were going to reimburse completely to me. Those devices were going to be programmed by some technicians at my home when I'd buy them.

I told her that first thing in the morning I was going to try to buy them.

Stores opened at 10AM so we have first another chat that day, Tuesday 8th, and I took some assessment/test she assigned me.

Once I was done with that I told her I was on my way to buy the devices (almost $3,000 in total). Then she told me "wait, there's an update, I just had a meeting with IT people and they told me that because of the lockdown, and pandemic and to protect your health you better send the devices to them". After I told them I wasn't comfortable investing that kind of money and send the equipment to unknown people they told me it was going to delay my hiring process. I've been trying to contact them through Wire, writing to them and even calling and haven't been any reply. Last time I heard from them was Tuesday 8th around 5PM when the Bryant Roe wrote "we are looking for alternatives". Nothing since then.
