A pop up window appeared in Microsoft Edge warning that my father had been hacked and to call the number listed in the warning window. “Tech support” rep “John Herman” instructed my father to download a remote support tool (LogMeIn Rescue) and advised that my father’s computer had been compromised. Rep installed uBlock Origin Add On in Microsoft Edge, possibly to establish trust. Rep then tried to sell different tech support packages at various price points and for various terms and length of service. Rep claimed to be based out of California but clearly spoke with accented English, source of scam most likely out of country.
