We attempted to buy a sphinx kitten online. The scammer asked for payment via Zelle. We made the payment and then the scammer asked for an additional deposit on a specialized crate for shipping the kitten. We foolishly made the $880 payment via Zelle. Then the scammer asked for another payment via Zelle of $1100 for pet insurance and that he wouldn't deliver the kitten until the payment had been made. We balked at that payment so he said the kitten couldn't be returned to the seller and would have to be sent to a shelter. There was never a cat though. Watch out for this scam and never pay via Zelle or Cash app.
