[email protected] Reports & Reviews (1)

- Council Bluffs, IA, USA • Jun 06, 2023

I was approached via email about a remote position that paid really well. I researched the company and the person. They both existed. I was interviewed via Teams and offered the position right away. I started training the next day. It was a little strange. He requested that I write a report on how to be an effective administrative assistant. I thought it was a little strange but was trying to be positive and hoped they were just trying to get an idea of my knowledge base. On the third day they sent a check, told me to deposit, and send copy of deposit receipt for their records. I did so. But, then I got concerned about the email address that was no longer valid and the phone number on offer letter that wouldn't go through. I requested the bank put a longer hold on the funds for fear that it would be returned for NSF. My trainer was surprised that the bank put a longer hold. I didn't tell him that I requested the longer hold. At this point, I wanted to see how far they would take it. He then asked if I had funds available to purchase the time taking software so they could pay me for hours worked. It is only about $1000 and they would reimburse me ASAP. I told him I did not have the funds for that. I haven't heard anything since then.
