I received a text message stating: "Good morning! My name is Brittany from Arizona Cancer Therapeutics (www.arizonacancertherapeutics.com). I'm reaching out to you in regards to your job application for the position of a remote data entry clerk. We are pleased to invite you to interview for this position. The rate of pay for this role will be $27 per hour. If you are interested in this position, please send your resume to my email address [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you soon." I sent over my resume and received the following email. "Thank you for sending over your resume. I have received and reviewed it, and I'm impressed with your qualifications. About Arizona Cancer Therapeutics: Arizona Cancer Therapeutics, is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company developing targeted peptide-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. Please visit our website below to learn more https://www.arizonacancertherapeutics.com Overview and working hours: The company will be sending you the office equipment you will need for this position. This includes a portable desk, a laptop, and a scanner, all of which are essential tools for your role. Additionally, you will undergo two-weeks online training program from the comfort of your home. This training will be conducted via video conference, and you will be assigned a training supervisor who will guide you through the process. It is important to note that you will be compensated at a rate of $20.00 per hour during this training period. Upon successful completion of the training, your hourly rate will increase to $27.00 per hour. You will be required to set up your own time schedule while working for Arizona Cancer Therapeutics, either as a Full time employee working 35hours weekly (you can also work extra hours to make it 40hrs/week) or Part time employee working 20hours weekly. I replied saying I wanted to learn more. I got back the following email: "Hello, Thank you for getting back to me. As part of the hiring process, you will be required to take a web based assessment test. The assessment will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will provide us with valuable information about your skills and abilities. Your performance on this test will help us determine if you are the right fit for the position. Please follow the test link below to complete the assessment test and interview questions. You're also required to fill out the employee form by following the employee form link below PS: some test questions are time based. You're required to complete this as soon as possible. I completed the assessment and the employee form and they set me up with an employee login. Shortly after, I got an email stating. "A decision about your employment was made sooner than expected as we need to fill this position as soon as possible. Please find attached the terms and conditions of your employment. Should you accept this offer, kindly sign and return the signed copy to me via email. We look forward to having you on board and are excited to have you join our team. I signed the offer letter and sent it back. Then the wanted Your Full Name DOB: MM/DD/YYYY Gender Current home address + Apt#, if any City, State & Zip code Direct Cell Preferred email address" I provided all that info and then they sent the following email "Hello, Your information has now been updated on our employee portal. I'll need you to log into the employee portal to confirm everything works fine from your end. Kindly find the details below; Username: Password: Employee Portal Access: https://careers.IGEtherapeutics.com/employeeportal/public I'll also need you to setup a Telegram account (if you do not have one already) as we are going to be communicating through Telegram until your home office is completely setup, then we can effectively communicate via the company email. Thank you for your understanding." I set up a telegram account and have been communicating with her through that. I am very skeptical and nervous about scams and all of this didn't seem to have any red flags other than not talking to someone on the phone. The next thing they did which was a red flag was they sent me a check through email for the purpose of purchasing the data entry program that is used for the job (Blockchain for data entry). They had me print out the check ($960) and deposit it using my mobile banking app. I did not depost the check as I was not comfortable with that . Now I am waiting to see if I do indeed receive the work equipment and training.
