I was reached out to first via email stating they found my resume on multiple job site platforms and then I received a text from the email sender. In the email was a link to a Microsoft Teams chat to initiate the interview. It was all done over chat. The interview was a woman claiming to be an actual Advent Health doctor. If you search Dr. Sarah Evans, she shows up on WebMD. So it all seems legit. She then runs through the history of the company followed by a series of questions. They asked for my name, age, city/state and level of experience. Then she asks if I have any of the following equipment to set up an at-home office. She says that the company will send me a check to purchase the items after I sign the offer letter. Something about this felt off to me as any job I've had, the company just sends the equipment you need. But I've never done an online chat representative job for a health company so I didn't know the system. But she asked for my address, email, and phone number to include for the shipment of the check. It was the day she sent me tracking for the check that I felt in my gut that this wasn't right. I received the check but did not deposit it. I immediately informed her I no longer wanted the position and would be destroying the check. She tried to persuade me to stay by complimenting my work ethic. Which further proved this was a scam because I hadn't even started the job.
