I applied for a job that was posted on my local college Trello job board, it was for a local business that is reputable, Roger Turner realty. I emailed the hiring persons email and they texted me back a couple days later to ask for an interview. They said the interview would be online through Skype which I didn’t immediately think was weird I just figured it was a video call. It ended up only being a text interview and it seemed like an AI was asking the questions. They only asked regular interview questions so I thought maybe they outsourced their hiring to an automated company or something. Then 4 days later they texted me back saying I’d gotten the job and sent a list of equipment and programs I’d need. They insisted I needed a MacBook. They told me to email a new email to tell them what I needed and they’d tell me the cost which the company would reimburse. At this point I knew it must be a scam so I went to the business they were pretending to be and asked them if they really had a job offer open and they didn’t know what I was talking about but were happy that I alerted them to an imposter posing to be them and they asked the school to remove the job listing from the job board which the school did.
