I needed a user manual and legend for my new HP printer. Went on web and immediately a pop up chat (with anglosaxon name (Jane ?) and female picture pop up). I gave my request. I jotted down ph#' on site. Told I needed tech support (I said no, just the manual and legend). Insisted they needed contact info. Gave ph # and email. immediately rec'd call from East Indian male stating he was Ray ***. Asked some basic ? then said he needed to get a technical support person, I said this was not a technical issue, he asked to get into my pc to help. Told him, no was not necessary. He hung up shortly after. I called again, got same type accent, James ***, asking to connect to pc, i said no, he hung up. Tried 3rd time.got Alex. Asked if this was a legitimate site, stated this sounded like the same person, asked for my pc access, I said no, they hung up. Finally spoke to James *** again on next call, stated why hangup, said it was a call centre and that it was just a problem with the line, but must help by connecting. I said no again. He gave me at this pt. a 1 -800 474 6836 #.

I then dialed that #, got Carson who also had East Indian accent (as did all above). I expressed my concern, he stated that there were call centres in India and that I now had a legitimate ph # and to call 1 800 334 5144 which was laserjet dept. I believe he gave me the manual contact info on the web to locate manual .

I then called Staples and spoke to supvr. who gave me 1 800 227 8164 and the 1 800 474 6836 # (telling me that was laserjet). But it was really inkjet when I called. Staples made note and told all their sales persons. The supvr also found this website and said it looked legitimate.

I called the other # that STaples gave me and got Carson again, which seemed suspect, again a E. Indian guy. He seemed like he took down my concern and said a supvr. would call me back within several days. It never happened.

I also spoke to Charles in laser jet dept. # and he gave me 1888 365 9777. (That was a debt collection #!!). HE said he would have supervisor call me back. But no one did. He told me there was lots of viruses thus they had asked for my info to go online and that the ph # to call re: my printer was on the box. I hung up and checked. No ph # on box.

I am very suspect and called Staples and reported it to supvr. I then contacted you after no word from HP. Still not sure of the HP site or # now.
