Household Goods Moving Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Apopka, FL, USA

I needed to move from a storage unit to a new home and I had things that needed to be reassembled so ReadyMovers said they would take care of it. They charged me extra to put together my treadmill. I contacted them the week of Feb 20th 2023 for a move march 22,2023. And I paid a deposit $700. I thought it was strange that after paying the deposit that I received a call verifying that I understood that I would have to pay the balance once the move is completed. Since I did not receive a call the day of my move, I called them and they gave me estimate time of 10-2pm. On the day of the move, I received a call at 7am from Frank explaining that he was like a project manager of the move and I would continue contact with him for everything. Frank said the movers were coming 8-9am. I called Frank at 9:15am and he said they were on the way. Then around 10:30 Frank said there was a problem getting the 26 ft truck. 1 man arrived after 12:30pm with a 16 foot truck when I paid for 3 men and a 26ft truck. I complained to Frank and he sent a second man 40 minutes later so he gave me a discount of $81 since I was to pay a second time once the mover arrived(which I was told about this payment at 7am by Frank—I thought I would complete payment at the end of the move). At the storage unit, they found that the truck was too small so a 2nd trip was needed and I did not have to pay for the extra hours. The 2 guys got to the house , unloaded and the went to pick up all the furniture and brought it to the house. Upon arriving at the house the second time , they required that I pay the final $700 BEFORE unloading and assembling. I tried to contact Frank and he would not respond. Someone else from the company called me and promised that they 2 guys would not leave without completing the job, since the movers refused to unload until payment. So I paid the last $700 and they unloaded the truck and left for Walmart since they had no tools, blankets, tape or any supplies at 9pm. I texted Frank at midnight since the movers never returned to complete assembly. Frank responded and said it’s too late. I called the person at the office and they promised that someone would come and complete assembly in the morning. I received a text from Frank from a different phone number stating the I needed to pay $81 when the assemblers arrive. So I told Frank DO NOT send anyone. So I paid for services that was not done.
