Made multiple purchases in the last 2 years and only 30% of my order came in. Tried to contact hotshot comics multiple times and got the run around then nothing and haven’t heard anything since. Will take your money and scam you

It is a website who claims to sell comics that you can pre order before they come out and will send them off to be graded. I have 3 orders for a total of 5 comics. I made the orders in a 4 month gap(April to July 2022). Order numbers are 2788, 2913, 3118. At first I thought I was taking so long to receive my comics cause the company that grades the comics where busy but then I looked up the company on Reddit and a ton of people are also scammed by this guy. I contacted him and asked him in Oct 2022 and got a reply saying that they are waiting for the grading company. I have sent comics to the grading company myself after I made my orders and already received them back so I know its not the grading company faults. This guys website is still up and taking money from people that I feel like he has no intent to deliver their comics.

This is a classic online fraud scheme. Luring customers with promises of 9.8 graded books within a few months and after enough time passes to avoid bank/cc/PayPal claims to be opened never reply or deliver orders. Similar to the Ponzi scheme model. You may be lucky to get the initial order if it’s small, but nothing afterwards. Online there are hundreds of customers that have been more than patient, waiting 6 months, 9 months, maybe a year, 18 months or more past expected delivery date but getting nothing ordered. Also many cases of getting a lower graded/lesser valued slab than originally ordered. If you’ve been ignored, refused refund or ripped off by Hotshot Comics (Asheville Comics) there is hope and recourse to get your money back. Strength in numbers folks, don’t hesitate to put the pressure on them. WIRE FRAUD & MAIL FRAUD ARE SERIOUS. File with your bank, cc company and/or PayPal immediately. There are a few topics regarding this on CGC and Reddit message boards as well.

Open a case with your local Police Department and the NC PD. Filing a police report will help especially if you intend to litigate.

Reaching out to local media and news outlets in your area and NC can put added pressure on them as well alerting folks who may not realize what’s happening.

If you are a business and cannot fill an order within the timeframe stated at checkout you should just cancel and refund it. That is the law. If you take thousands of orders and do this to hundreds of people, you should stop and consider another way to make money legally. When an online retailer takes money and promises to send something in the mail in exchange for said money and does not follow through and ignores customers it is both mail and wire fraud.
