My husband and I were looking for a vacation rental (by owner) to purchase for a few months in the winter in Lake Havasu City. We found a home on 1250 Palmas Dr. that was available and sent $1000 for the deposit. We were also asked to pay more to repair the spa, which the previous tenants said wasn't working. When we checked the VRBO site, after we'd sent the $1000 deposit, the days we'd requested were, in fact, reserved. And we saw no no mention of a broken spa in the reviews.



As we prepared to leave for vacation, we checked the VRBO site and discovered that our dates were no longer reserved! We also found the review that said the spa wasn't working, which had been posted two months before.

We were leaving a few days early to avoid a storm. As such, we were told to pay an additional $150 (for an iTunes card) to refund the previous tenants who'd agreed to vacate early. We were given a signed contract and receipts for our initial payment.
