I'm reporting this for other people's sake. I received a pink "FINAL NOTICE" letter by U.S. Postal Service. It gave me pause and upset me but I was pretty sure it was a fake. None the less, I called my bank where I have a Home Equity Line of Credit to make sure it wasn't from them. I don't know how much money they were asking for because I would never call a phone number or get on a website unless I know they are real. But at the top right hand corner was a notice in darker letters: "Limited time only $200 off with this letter if you respond by the deadline date!" They do have my name and physical address but not my mailing address. There is no return address for them. No website but the 800 number. "Urgent" all over the letter. "our records show..." and "You have not contacted us yet to get your Home Warranty up to date." Things like that, but at the bottom in very small letters, smaller than anything else on the letter this statement: "Not all consumers have previous coverage. We are not affiliated with your current mortgage holder." I don't have a mortgage. Very official looking. Mostly it made me angry that they are trying to trick people, especially older people.
