Sent an address with a picture of a house with 2 large trees in front yard. Scammer said her husband is selling the house and needs one of the trees removed to send an estimate (in which he did to the following email address: [email protected]) approval of estimate was made and a supposed cashier check was put in mail with a legit tracking number. The day the check was to get here, she requested that an electrician would be doing some work at the same time and wrote the cashiers check for a lil over to Zelle 1200$ to the following: [email protected] and the name on bank account Lynn Russell. Thank God he didn’t send anything because upon researching this I am finding out this is a whole scam. The cashier check is suppose to arrive by 9pm tonight.

Hi, now it seems like they are trying to scam me and my company. I received text asking to decorate their daughter’s birthday party event in November in Port Saint Lucie. I sent different estimates, and they accepted the highest. What did you do to prove they are scammers? Did they disappear? It will be helpful!

I cannot remember the business name he tried to use because once my attorney got involved he took the business name down. He came to my home and offered a shower remodel but wanted to use my debit card for certain purchases and then used it for unauthorized purchases. Once I realized he was scamming me I told him I no longer wanted to work with him and he sent me over 50 text messages threatening me. Once I did a background check on him it came back as every single piece of work he did did not ever pass inspection. I now will not get my money back because of this guy and I am a single mom. Devastating loss.

I was approached by a couple to resurface my parking pad and fill in the cracks. The initial quote was $350. They used a watered down concrete paint, no concrete. Then the final bill was $1,050. I told them that I would not pay either of those amounts but only what the job was worth. I offered a check which they wouldn't take or look at but wanted cash. I said I had to go to the ATM they said they would follow me. I said, absolutely not. So they said they would wait. I parked my car down the street and after half an hour they left. However they came back twice last night and I didn't answer the door. They also called but I wouldn't answer. Most disturbing to me is that they had 2 children in the car. The windows were darkly tinted but I could see a car seat with a toddler and the arm over the seat of a child about 5. The woman said she had other children but these were just 2 of them. She was too old to have a baby. She and husband may be in early 60's. They were driving a newer Volkswagen SUV, the larger model. I couldn't see license plate as the lift gate was up and she stood in back of the car so I couldn't see inside. The man is about 5'6" with full white hair, dressed in long white shorts, white/tee. Woman was about 5'3" with blond shoulder length hair dressed in a long black pant dress. Both had Spanish accents. The man said I had loose roof shingles and offered to come back and secure the shingles and apply a sealer. He said his son who also does electrical work would help him.

This comment literally saved me today. There were so many red flags about this guy. First, he barely acknowledged me and was incredibly rude, barking orders as if I were his assistant, telling me to hold or lift things without asking.

Then he started saying things that made no sense: “I need you to find these pieces so I can repair this appliance… oh, those parts don’t exist anymore… but I can still fix it for you.” How does that even work?

He wanted 60% of the repair cost UP FRONT for work he said he would do later, even though he had just claimed some parts didn’t exist. Out of frustration, I said “fine” and asked for a receipt. That’s when he told me to fill out his invoice myself, which was strange because legitimate companies usually handle that themselves. When I looked closer, I noticed the invoice template had some subtle but suspicious details that I’m sure most people wouldn’t catch. This was my chance to pause and ask friends to check him out, and sure enough, they found this very warning post.

When I asked for his website, he said he didn’t have one and immediately got defensive, pressuring me to decide on the spot. His Cash App account had only been created two months ago…another red flag. He got aggressive and arrogant, insisting I wouldn’t find a better deal. I told him politely it was fine, I’d just pay the service fee, and got him out of my house.

For reference, he was in the PG count Maryland area. I’m keeping details vague because he has my address, but I have cameras all around my property and have both photos and video of him. I’m reporting him to the police and the Better Business Bureau.

Do not call this guy. Protect yourself. There are too many scams like this out there.

I purchased a Groupon online for Air-Duct for the Whole House Cleaning at $81.18. When the guy (Greg) showed up at my home, he convinced me that I needed to pay more to get the complete work done. He did not clean the ducks (used a vacuum only) and left his the debris behind. Further, he asked me to write a review while he stood over me. It was very threatening. Needless to say, I believe this was a pop-up company and scam.

We needed a Viking oven repaired. Found Viking Repair Pro in Highland Park, IL, near us. Called number to book service appointment. Tech quoted us 2x the price of parts available online plus an outrageous labor fee. When we refused, he then said we had to pay $75 for his visit. Once he started writing up the receipt we could see that he wasn't even from a company called "Viking Repair Pro". The company that came to out house is "5 Star Appliance Repair" - a different company based in California!! I'll be completing the scam complaint form for THAT company, as well.
