Basically, the person on the phone claimed that their bank bought a home loan in my name from another bank. I knew this to be a lie because I have no home loans or mortgage. The person kept saying that this loan was transferred from different banks and kept going through bank names in my state. I then hung up because I was not about to give them my info or say if the name they said was correct which the name was not. I urge people to please be careful because if you do have a loan or mortgage I can see how someone would easily fall for this scam.

An American woman called my phone and stated that she was checking in on my status of buying a new home and that she was from a home loan business. She paused then asked if I could hear her. I said “I can” and that I already owned a home. She immediately hung up... that is how I knew it was the “Can you hear me now?” scam. I’m just lucky I said “I can” instead of “yes”.
