Job application leads to suspicious update download

I responded and was sent an apparent zoom link. When I attempted to join, it wanted me to download an "update". I did and it still was not working. I emailed Preston, and he responded:
"Join through the start meeting button. A window device is required. If you have any difficulty, kindly download the update, then install. Thank you."
The downloaded asset was trying to get into my PC.
