When completing the transfer on the "gift points" page I reached a screen that asked for credit card information. I told the online agent that I did not wish to spend money out of pocket and was trying to simply transfer points from my account. The agent assured me that this was acceptable and told me the credit card request was just for validation. This was incorrect, and my card was immediately charged $800. I protested this at once to Hilton and have followed up with their people to explain the situation in detail -- they have declined to correct the charge.
