A moving company (venture van lines) was hired to do a move. They subcontracted Hermes Moving and storage as the carrier. A total amount was established and agreed upon of a total of $1994 and some change. A deposit was paid initially and then a second payment when the good were picked up. Now waiting on delivery, I receive a text by the this carrier stating that my balance to pay is not 437.95 but in fact 1012.95. I called and the guy states that my storage facility is not semi truck friendly and that those fees are my balance and shuttle fee. He claims the contract says they can do that without needing to call me. I stated not true, and that the contract says no such thing. I called the main person at Hermes and plea my case and tried to say it was Venture van lines fault for not explaining. Also called Ben at Venture Van Lines and he says that it sounds like they are trying to skim me for money and that shouldn't have happened at all. At the end I had to pull the money out my rent in order to pay for the goods. After that horrible experience I went on to online search this company and to my surprise there were so many similar reviews from other customers. Some were scammed for thousands of dollars, others got their belonging mismanaged and broken even lost and never recovered, including deposits made when they canceled at the stipulated window given for cancelation. They even change their numbers so customers do not bother them anymore with their claims.. They need to be stopped.
