I was initially approached via text message, not recognizing the number I asked who they were. I was informed that the one texting me was a man called James Crawford, he claimed that they had viewed my Indeed resume, and I had been considered for a remote position as a Data Entry Clerk/administrative assisstant. He then said if I was interested to download an app called Telegram on my phone and use it to add someone named Heidi Kemppi and begin an interview. The entire interview took place over Instant Message through the app, I thought it was odd but felt desperate for my job search to come to an end so I thought nothing of it. The interview ended with Heidi informing me I was accepted for the position, the following morning I filled out a W-4 form which included all of my personal information including social security. I was then informed that a check was being sent to my home address so I could purchase supplies necessary to begin work from home. A few days pass and over that time I had been given strange tasks involving essay writing, getting suspicious, my family and I did more thorough research and discovered that St1 Oy was only hiring in Finland and Norway, there were no remote positions listed. Furthermore, while Heidi Kemmpi does have a linked in profile with listed experience, there are no posts or details backing up her employment timeline. Upon searching for scams on ScamPulse.com's scam tracker, I found that I'm not the only one who has been scammed like this and decided to report it.
